Planning Framework

The MRA’s planning framework is guiding the successful redevelopment of New Northbridge, which has revitalised land above the Graham Farmer Freeway tunnel to re-link entertainment and business areas of Northbridge with the surrounding residential areas, while retaining and building on the unique heritage and character of Northbridge.

The Redevelopment Scheme, Development Policies and site-specific Design Guidelines guide all developments within the project area and ensure sustainability, innovation and high quality outcomes.

The redevelopment of New Northbridge is now 70% complete. As parts of the project area are completed planning control is returned to the relevant local government. This process is called ‘normalisation’.  In December 2011 Stage 1A of New Northbridge was returned to the City of Perth and Stage 1B of New Northbridge was returned to the City of Vincent. The returned areas are shown on the normalisation plan.

All planning enquiries or proposals for areas within the normalised areas should be directed to the City of Perth or City of Vincent. All proposals for the remaining areas of land, which is within the Lindsay Street Precinct and Museum Street Precinct, can be directed to MRA Planning.
