Lake Street

The Lake Street precinct, defined by the eastern boundary of the former Arcus site and William, Newcastle and Aberdeen Streets, was designed to complement and extend the existing Northbridge entertainment zone.

On Lake Street, between Aberdeen and Newcastle Streets, the Plateia Hellas is the centrepiece of the precinct. A homage to the local Greek community, the versatile space allows vehicle movement and parking as well as community activity like performances and small festivals. The large-scale sculpture ‘Nexus’, designed by Simon Gauntlett, marks the Plateia and is a well known meeting spot for locals and visitors.
