Expressions of interest are sought from community representatives for one of six positions on the Scarborough Community Advisory Group.
Planning Minister Donna Faragher said the advisory group would provide input into the proposed road extensions and traffic network design associated with the Scarborough Master Plan. The plan includes the first stage foreshore redevelopment scheduled for completion in 2018.
"The community advisory group is being established to represent all sections of the local community including businesses, residents and local environmental groups," Mrs Faragher said.
"It will provide feedback into the planning, development and design of the proposed road network in the area, including the future extensions of The Esplanade as outlined in the Scarborough Master Plan.
"I have called for expressions of interest from community representatives with an interest in the redevelopment of Scarborough and nominations close on Friday, July 1."
The nine-member community advisory group will be chaired by North Metropolitan Region MLC Liz Behjat and will include representatives from MRA and the City of Stirling. The group is expected to hold its first meeting in July 2016.
Forward works for the major redevelopment of Scarborough's foreshore are underway. A large construction area along the beachfront has been fenced off to allow the safe demolition of existing buildings, removal of trees and ground excavation for the new waterfront public swimming pool.
"As a result of these major works, there will be changes to car parking, beach access, pedestrian and cycling paths in the area and visitors are advised to access the area from either Manning Street or Brighton Road," the Minister said.
"The State Government is working with the community and local businesses in an effort to minimise impacts wherever possible."
Mrs Faragher said works would continue for the next 18 months with the enhanced Scarborough foreshore expected to be largely completed before the 2018 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
