Doric appointed to iconic Yagan Square

We are pleased to announce that Doric Contractors have been formally appointed for the construction of Yagan Square. The $65 million contract with Doric is expected to commence next year and completed by 2017.

The Yagan Square precinct of Perth City Link will reconnect Perth City with Northbridge for the first time in over 100 years. The precinct is designed to cater for events of up to 8,500 people, the return of fresh food markets, public art and native gardens. Yagan Square is located in the arms of the historic Horseshoe Bridge and its design will recognise its cultural and historical significance of the site.

Planning Minister John Day said extensive consultation was undertaken with the Perth community and the Whadjuk Working Party during the design of Yagan Square to ensure the space offered something unique for the city.

“When it opens in 2017, Yagan Square will introduce thousands of local residents, tourists and city workers to Aboriginal culture and showcase the very best of Western Australian produce,” Mr Day said.

Doric has earned an exceptional reputation for the delivery of many iconic projects over the years, including the recently completed practical completion on Bold Park Aquatic Centre and Ronald McDonald House, and is approaching completion of the circular City of Perth Library.

“Doric is delighted to be appointed to this exceptional project”, said CEO, Mr Vince Mulholland, “As a company, we embrace the opportunity of being involved in projects that make a significant contribution to their communities, and Yagan Square will be enjoyed by visitors and the people of Western Australia for many years to come.”
