Midland saleyards set for redevelopment

  • Midland

A rare development opportunity is available in the burgeoning Midland Redevelopment Area.

Planning Minister John Day today called for expressions of interest for the redevelopment of the former Midland Livestock Saleyards site.

“Building on the strong momentum generated by previous land sales in the Midland Workshops, this release is another vital step in the urban renewal of the area,” Mr Day said.

“The saleyards site provides outstanding potential for light industrial and commercial development, with close proximity to key infrastructure and excellent transport access.”

Located adjacent to existing industrial sites, the 14-hectare saleyards site has frontages to Clayton and Lloyd streets, easy access to Roe Highway, the Midland Town Centre, Great Eastern Bypass and Perth Airport.

“We are seeking an experienced proponent who is best placed to develop the site in its entirety ensuring commercial investment and employment opportunities for the local economy well into the future,” the Minister said.

Mr Day said investment in the new Midland Public Hospital and the Lloyd Street grade separation were providing essential infrastructure, improving connectivity and increasing the overall amenity of the area.

“Supporting quality commercial development will help the area to realise its potential as a thriving, productive centre for the east metropolitan region,” he said.
