New commercial and residential land has been released at the Midland Railway Workshops.
Planning Minister John Day said the land release followed the recent sale of four lots, valued at $5.5m, that would deliver mixed use development, short stay accommodation and affordable housing.
“The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority has been actively marketing various lots within the Workshops precinct. The first of these lots to settle is a development on Helena Street that will have commercial retail space at the ground floor with apartment living on the upper floors,” Mr Day said.
“The land sales are a strong indicator of the potential of Midland as a major residential, commercial and entertainment hub for the east metropolitan region.”
The Minister said offers were currently being sought from interested developers for a 2,854sqm mixed-use development site, as well as 26 single-residential lots.
“Lot 808 Main Gate has the potential for a three to four storey mixed-use development with a combination of commercial, retail and community uses,” he said.
“Ranging in size from 180 to 233 square metres, the 26 residential lots are located along the Helena River, next to the prestigious Woodbridge Lakes estate and within walking distance of Midland’s town centre. The lots can be purchased as one super lot or in multiple parcels.”
Minister Day said it was clear there was excitement about Midland’s future and the potential of this precinct.
“Midland is experiencing a renaissance with State Government and private sector investment totalling more than $1.5b including works at the historic Workshops precinct, construction of the Midland Public Hospital and a review of the current Midland master plan.”
The properties are for sale by offers to purchase. Interested parties can contact Rob Selid (0412 198 294) or Andrew McKerracher (0403 232 034) at Burgess Rawson
