WA Museum temporary closure

  • Perth Cultural Centre

The Western Australian Museum doors are now closed for one of the most significant museum redevelopments in the world today.

Its transformation sees the development of a new building that integrates with the current heritage buildings including the Old Gaol, Hackett Hall, and the Jubilee and Beaufort Street wings – which will be refurbished inside and out.

The New Museum will reopen in 2020 with significantly increased space for new exhibitions, touring and temporary exhibition spaces, interactive and experiential spaces, investigation and preservation work, learning spaces for programs, events and activities, and function spaces, café and retail services.

Visit the New Museum website for more information about the project, or visit our See and Do section to find out what else is happening at Perth Cultural Centre.
