Completion of Stage 3 Normalisation marks a significant milestone in EPRA’s Claisebrook Village and New Northbridge urban renewal projects. Normalisation is the process of removing redeveloped land from the East Perth Redevelopment Area and returning it to the planning control of the Local Government.
Stage 3 Normalisation has returned completed portions of the Claisebrook Village and New Northbridge Project Areas to local government. Land shown on this plan as Stage 3 Claisebrook Village and Stage 1A New Northbridge has been returned to the City of Perth and land shown as Stage 1B New Northbridge has been returned to the City of Vincent.
Stage 3 Normalisation marks the completion of 90 percent of the Claisebrook Village Project, which has transformed an industrial wasteland into a vibrant cosmopolitan community. The Normalisation also marks completion of 70 percent of the New Northbridge Project, which has revitalised underutilised land above the Graham Farmer Freeway tunnel to re-link entertainment and business areas of Northbridge with the surrounding residential areas, while retaining and building on the unique heritage and character of Northbridge.
Prior to finalising Stage 3 Normalisation EPRA conducted a 60-day period of community consultation and worked closely with the City of Perth, the City of Vincent and the Department of Planning to ensure that appropriate planning provisions will remain in place for the area after Normalisation has been completed.
Stage 3 Normalisation will not affect residents or businesses unless they plan to make modifications to or change the use of their property, in which case the planning application will be lodged with the local government rather than EPRA.
