World-class venue the centrepiece of new urban village

3 February 2012

Champion Lakes rowerEarlier this month ownership of the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, a world-class venue for rowing, canoeing, dragon boating, triathlon and international watersport competitions, was transferred to VenuesWest

As the State Government’s facilities manager, VenuesWest will work collaboratively with partners to target and attract major sporting events to the Centre. This niche complex is the centrepiece of a new urban village at Champion Lakes, one of the key precincts in the redevelopment of Armadale

Adding to this premium watersports venue is a 15 hectare commercial precinct, which has potential for the development of a White Water Park, short-term accommodation, offices, retail and residential uses.  New businesses to the precinct will be well positioned to take advantage of being located next to an international sporting venue and high quality residential development.

Armadale has experienced a renaissance over the past 10 years which has seen considerable private and public investment in the area. Through projects such as Champion Lakes, the Forrestdale Business Park and new residential estates at Wungong, Armadale and its surrounding suburbs will emerge as an outstanding example of urban revitalisation and a contemporary regional centre of civic, cultural and economic significance.
