Seasons Greetings from EPRA

9 December 2010

Perth is experiencing a once in a lifetime opportunity in terms of population growth, a strong economy and an unprecedented regeneration program. EPRA is working to create a world-class city - a vital Perth where people want to work, live and visit.

It's been a successful 2010 for each of our projects. On the north side of the city, the Perth Cultural Centre continues to provide many reasons to visit, including the revitalised William Street which is open for business and offers a new and exciting shopping alternative for residents and visitors to Northbridge. Across the rail line, works are well underway on the Perth City Link and Riverside projects to provide new residential, commercial and recreational opportunities transforming the way many Western Australians interact with the city centre.

This year began with the launch of Scheme 2, EPRAs new planning guidelines designed to meet the needs of inner-city development, encourage vibrant neighbourhoods and activate public spaces.

In September, EPRA won the State UDIA Award for Excellence in Urban Renewal for New Northbridge. Over the past 10 years, EPRA has revitalised 27 hectares of Northbridge that was left dilapidated by the construction of the Northbridge Tunnel into a vibrant, cosmopolitan community. This project also won EPRA the UDIA President’s Award which is selected from the winners of the 14 categories recognising best practice in urban renewal.

On the back of our success at the State awards, EPRA has been invited to enter the 2011 National UDIA Awards, the winners of which will be announced in March.

As the year draws to a close there is much success to reflect on, and many more exciting milestones to look forward to.

From all of us here at EPRA, best wishes to you and your families for a safe and prosperous festive season.
