EPRA’s Perth Cultural Centre project and the Urban Orchard have been recognised as examples of excellence by the landscaping industry.
At the 2011 Landscape Industries Association of Western Australia Awards of Excellence, Josh Byrne & Associates won awards for excellence in Commercial Sustainable Landscape and Best Special Feature Plants based on their work in the Perth Cultural Centre and in creating the Urban Orchard.
Completed in July 2010, the Urban Orchard was a key component of EPRA’s $11million short term revitalisation program to transform the cultural heart of Perth and deliver a revitalised place that is vibrant and inclusive. As leaders in the industry for gardening and landscape design, Josh Byrne & Associates were appointed by EPRA to assist with the revitalisation project.
EPRA also congratulates Josh and his team for collecting a number of other sustainable landscape awards on the night and for being recognised as a finalist in the category of Designer Commercial Civic (over 500 square metres) for the Urban Orchard.
The Urban Orchard is a highly successful community garden that was built on a neglected area on the rooftop of a carpark. The garden is becoming increasingly popular with inner-city residents, city workers and visitors to the city.
