See what is ‘popping up’ on William Street

18 July 2011

Montage Pop-up ShopDon’t miss your opportunity to check out the latest addition to William Street in Northbridge.

Montage will begin trading until 31 July and will feature the handmade wares of 14 local designers. But be quick, the store is only ‘popping up’ briefly.

EPRA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Keys, said a one month lease was offered to Montage to trade from 224 William Street.

“Last year, EPRA completed refurbishment works on 16 heritage properties along the eastern side of William Street and implemented a targeted leasing strategy,” Mr Keys said.

“The properties have attracted significant interest from small businesses and have built on and enhanced the unique identity, heritage and reputation of Northbridge for emerging fashion, entertainment, food and culture.”

“In keeping with Montage's philosophy, the William Street tenancy was a perfect fit for this retail model which looks at unique sites for only short term occupancy.”

Montage will trade seven-days-a-week selling handmade clothing, jewellery, art, accessories, stationery, bags, handmade toys, photography, bath products and homewares.

Rebecca Fogarty of B.H.O Bags and Purses, whose products will feature in Montage, said the ‘pop-up shop’ initiative is becoming a very popular way to utilise temporarily vacant spaces.

“We operate ‘pop-up’ shops all over the city.  The concept provides great exposure for our designers to new audiences with minimal risk,” Ms Forgarty said.

“The William Street revitalisation is an exciting project and we are very excited to be trading among an eclectic mix of retail stores.”

Mr Keys said EPRA was in a perfect position to partner with businesses such as Montage and continue to provide new retail offerings for inner-city shoppers.

“William Street is fast becoming one of Perth’s most eclectic shopping precincts offering cutting-edge fashion, art galleries and unique retail stores, and will soon offer new food and beverage tenancies for visitors to the Perth Cultural Centre and theatre patrons.”

Montage will trade from 1-31 July from 224 William Street.  Information about each of the designers can be found online at http://montagecollective.blogspot.com.
