Demolition makes way for new Perth City Link development
Less than eight months since works commenced, demolition of the Perth Entertainment Centre has been completed on schedule and Planning Minister John Day has announced the Government’s approval for a new 11-storey office and retail building for the Perth City Link.
To be developed by 
Leighton Properties, on behalf of Seven Entertainment Pty Ltd, the 5-star Green Star building is the first of six buildings to be developed on the site. It will add approximately 19,000sqm of much needed floor space to Perth’s CBD.
In addition, EPRA’s works at the Milligan Street precinct are progressing well. Earthworks and the installation of public services are underway to create two development sites, new public spaces and an extension of Milligan Street to provide access to parking for Perth Arena patrons. When complete, these works will feature public art and water features, attractive landscaping, trees, seating and state-of-the-art lighting to welcome visitors to Perth’s newest sports and entertainment venue.
In addition, the State Government is also progressing preparatory works to sink the rail line from William Street to Lake/King Street. To date, this has included the partial removal of the Western Concourse, partial relocation of the Roe Street Principal Shared Path, removal of the timber footbridge in Perth Station and the start of earthworks for the temporary relocation of the Fremantle Line.
The Perth City Link project will dramatically change the face of the city by reconnecting the CBD with Northbridge for the first time in more than 100 years. The project is becoming a reality with visitors now able to visualise the future connections from Perth CBD to Northbridge.
