Check out the fringe-style events that have been part of the cultural fabric of Perth in years gone by as featured in the giant window mural at the State Library. Articles and photos are featured from the State Library's collection of digital prints and newspapers.

The Shambles

Visit ‘The Shambles’ the new Fringe performance venue at the State Library.  The Shambles is the other half of our favourite all-wood theatretenten, direct from Holland to Fringe World for the very first time.The Shambles is located next to the State Records Office of WA in the Perth Cultural Centre.


As part of Fringe World readers at the State Library are invited to help create 'Seven' an interactive poem that will feature on the Perth Cultural Centre Screen from 1 - 7 February. Seven words, seven lines, the seventh page. All visitors to Fringe and the State Library will be invited to submit a single line of seven consecutive words drawn from the seventh page of any State Library of WA book. The submitted line, together with six previous lines from other readers will be broadcast at 7 minutes past the hour as a seven line poem on the Perth Cultural Centre Screen.
