What is handover?

Handover primarily involves returning planning authority to the Western Australian Planning Commission and local government. This includes the strategic and statutory planning, asset management and Developer Contribution Plan administration (where applicable) of DevelopmentWA (acting through the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority).

This also means development applications will be determined by the local government, Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) or Development Assessment Panels post handover.

Essentially, project handover means DevelopmentWA (acting through the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority) will no longer be responsible under the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority Act 2011 (MRA Act) for a redevelopment area once it has been handed over.
