What is the difference between a planning control area, a redevelopment area and a redevelopment scheme?

Level of state intervention and planning authority.

Planning control areas are development control focused and are intended to consolidate the development approvals process under the existing planning documents, with the WA Planning Commission as the approval authority for any development applications.

Redevelopment areas provide for a broader range of development and place making to plan and deliver place-based outcomes, but do not in itself change the planning authority.

Redevelopment schemes are prepared and gazetted following establishment of a redevelopment area. They maintain our role within the redevelopment area and also transfer planning authority for the area to us.
