Evolving vision for Perth City Link

Two experienced developers have been selected to deliver a mix of student accommodation and retail development at Perth City Link.

Brisbane-based joint venture, Cedar Pacific, will develop a 3,000 sqm lot behind Perth Arena for a 550-bed student accommodation facility with a mix of retail and leisure uses on the ground floor.

Three lots further east on Roe Street will be developed by Far East Consortium with a range of boutique apartments and an integrated retail, entertainment and hospitality complex.

MRA Chief Executive Officer Kieran Kinsella said the sales process had attracted strong interest and competition from reputable developers, as well as attracting new investment to Perth.

Cedar Pacific, have a strong track record of delivering student accommodation and related infrastructure throughout Australia and New Zealand and are extremely excited to introduce their product to the Perth market.

“Far East Consortium will undertake a design competition with emerging international and national architects to ensure an exemplary design that offers an appealing residential product for the Perth market and complements the adjacent Dorsett Hotel and residential complex.”

Mr Kinsella said the Perth City Link project was redefining the city with the first new road connection and Yagan Square due for completion this year.

The Government has invested more than $1.4billion in the Perth City Link project to deliver world-class transport infrastructure and create one of Australia’s most unique transit-oriented developments. I am very excited to see how each of these development proposals continues to redefine our city and complete the vision for reconnecting the CBD with Northbridge.

Contract negotiations and planning and design work will now commence for both proponents.

Mr Kinsella said five diverse bids were received from the expression of interest process for a mix of lots. Details of sale price will be revealed upon execution of a contract.
