Expressions of interest sought for prime CBD development sites

Two large development sites facing Perth’s new Yagan Square are on the market.

MRA CEO Kieran Kinsella said the two sites were some of the best property in town, adjacent to major CBD retail redevelopments, public transport and Yagan Square which is set to open early next year.

“At just under 6,500sqm, the larger site fronts Roe Street and Yagan Square, is adjacent to the State Theatre Centre and Northbridge and is located above Perth Busport and next to the Perth train stations,” Mr Kinsella said.

“The smaller of the two sites at 2,200sqm fronts Wellington Street with potential to complement redevelopment of Raine Square and Forrest Chase and is also in close proximity to good public transport links and contemporary entertainment venues.”

Mr Kinsella said the western border of each of these sites would form a new vehicle and pedestrian extension of Queen Street, continuing the vision for Perth City Link to reconnect the city with Northbridge.

“More than $1billion has been invested in the Perth City Link project over the past 5-10 years delivering Perth Arena, the new Perth Busport, Yagan Square and a host of transport and public infrastructure upgrades.”

“This investment has fundamentally transformed an underutilised area of the CBD, changing how people engage with our city and attracting new investment and businesses to Perth.”

Set to open in early 2018, Yagan Square will be home to 22 new food and beverage tenancies that showcase local produce and offer a new eat and drink experience for the city. More than 15 Western Australian small business owners have taken opportunities to expand their businesses into Yagan Square and bring a dynamic retail and dining experience to Perth’s CBD.

“Perth has grown in diversity, with a new business, residential and working population and exciting plans by both Government and the private sector to define the next wave of our city’s transformation.”

“These sites present unique opportunities to be part of that vision.”

Expression of Interest for both sites would close in November 2017.
