DevelopmentWA to play a central role in shaping the future of WA

DevelopmentWA is the result of consolidating the operations of LandCorp and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and will capitalise on the combined power and expertise of the former agencies. 

It will be uniquely positioned to pursue a diverse portfolio of projects including industrial projects, urban regeneration and infill, tourism infrastructure, METRONET and innovation projects. As part of its strategic direction, the agency will serve as the commercial bridge between the McGowan Government and the private sector on development - creating opportunity for partnerships that will spark new growth and create jobs. 

DevelopmentWA has launched its first program of works, offering $3.8 billion worth of development and investment opportunities to the private sector in 2020.

The opportunities, spread across the metropolitan, regional and industrial sectors, will see the creation of nearly 20,000 new construction and operational jobs, and 2,500 new dwellings as the land is developed in the coming years.

Key metropolitan projects include:

  • Alkimos Central - The 20ha City Centre offers a substantial development opportunity with up to 67,000sqm of floor space for retail, residential, commercial, civic and institutional uses;
  • Cockburn Central - Lot 7 is the last remaining lot in Cockburn Central and is a landmark 4-hectare site opposite the train station; 
  • Montario Quarter - This 6,817sqm heritage site is zoned Residential R60 and caters for medium density living options;
  • East Village, Knutsford - Lot 2 is now available through a Request for Proposal inviting offers for this innovative multi-unit, mixed residential site; and  
  • 101 Hay St, East Perth - Expressions of Interest are sought for this prominent 5,335 sqm corner site in Riverside, East Perth.

 Some of the projects coming soon include:

  • Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct - The final two mixed-use development lots in Stage 1B will soon be available;
  • Hamilton Hill Senior High School Redevelopment - The first medium density site in the transformation of the former High School site; and
  • Claremont on the Park - The final 3,221sqm commercial site, completing an iconic infill project.

LandCorp CEO Frank Marra will be the inaugural CEO of DevelopmentWA.
