Transit hub works
- Scarborough
The Transit Hub is now finished and open to the public. The new entry to Scarborough Beach is an impressive sight as you come over the hill along Scarborough Beach Road. The area has been transformed into a pedestrian-friendly and welcoming entry to the beachfront, with new landscaping, palm trees and shade structures.
Transperth buses are now servicing the new Scarborough Beach Bus Station, which includes four dedicated bus stops in the Hub. Vehicles are also able to drive into the area, however there is no access to The Esplanade from Scarborough Beach Road until September 2017.
The Transit Hub underwent a complete overhaul including:
- Installation of water, electrical, firewater, gas and sewer pipes
- Laying of new roads and pathways, and paving along existing shop fronts
- New bus and shade shelters
- Landscaping of the area including 21 new Canary Island Date Palms
- Creation of a new roundabout and road realignment
- New kerbing, lighting and bike racks
